Dr. Sylvia T. Johnson received her B.A. in Mathematics from Howard University, M.S. in Student Personnel Work in Higher Education from Southern Illinois University, and Ph.D. in Educational Measurement and Statistics at the University of Iowa.

She was Professor of Research Methodology and Statistics in the School of Education at Howard University and Principal Investigator at the Center of Research on the Education of Students Placed at Risk (CRESPAR). Dr. Johnson co-authored a book, Education and Adult Literacy, and she is the author of over 35 journal articles, monographs, and book chapters on educational research and assessment.
